Linux 對 SMP 系統 ACPI 的支援還不夠？

最近換了一張主機板 (MS-6369)，把舊系統搬過去後就 kernel panic，新舊系統只差在舊系統是舊系統是Via 694X，新系統是 Via Pro266，硬體架構上差異應該不大，結果舊系統上說 BIOS 版本太老舊，ACPI 強制關閉，新系統雖然不會強制關閉，但是卻會在 kernel boot 時產生....bad EIP value.......can not sync..... 啥的錯誤訊息，這三天重覆從 stage1(個人龜毛，非從 stage1 安裝不可，見笑了 :p) 安裝了數次才找出問題--ACPI 要強制 off......~_~
MS-6369 在 MSI 官方找不到蹤影了，連舊產品列表中也沒有，像是從空氣中消失一般，所以也找不到是否有 bios 可更新及修正這個 ACPI 問題，但是話說回來，M$ 的 OS 雖然有若干缺點，但是對於硬體的 support 還是相當不錯的，難道說過了這麼久，Linux 的硬體支援還是痛嗎？雖然比起幾年前來說已經好很多了.....

倒是 Livecd 的 kernel 不知道怎麼編的，好像有啟動 ACPI 卻又沒有問題....(汗)

Then try genkernel and hotplug first.
That's how livecd works.

You can just start installation from "Installing the kernel and system logger" part unless you change USE and CFLAGS in /etc/make.conf.

That's how livecd works.

You can just start installation from "Installing the kernel and system logger" part unless you change USE and CFLAGS in /etc/make.conf.

Thanks for your answer, but I'd like to make kernel manually rather than use genkernel. Is there any difference from manually make kernel and genkernel?

Now a bigger problem is that kernel-2.4 seems not to support AGP of Via Pro266 and above, so I can't start my X.....@@

X 起不來的原因找到了，不是 agp 的問題，而是環境設了 zh_TW，卻沒有字型可用，灌了中文字型下去就 ok 了....@@

換了另外一張板子--Asus CUV266-D，個性跟 MS-6369 完全不一樣，要開 ACPI 才能開機!?
在 MS-6369 掛不上去的 USB keyboard 換成這張板子就沒問題了，不過不小心按到多媒體鍵之類的按鍵的話就會掛掉.....~_~
